One day, I decided to go to Malysia for my graduation trip. There was not particular reason, but I kind of hope that my Malysian friends would help me and now I sincerely appreciate them. Before I went to Malysia, I searched hard for travelling tips like currency, accomodation, food and tour spots. However, I believed that a trip can actually be started when you just step in the country rather than reading travelling guide books. Since I didn't know anything about Malaysia, everything thrilled me with new fresh air. Unfortunately, my flight arrived at midnight in Kuala Lumpur, but I could managed to get 'Ekspress' train to the main town.(they spelled a word as it sounds like) Next morning, my first destination was Petronas Twin Tower(below). I am familiar with this building because I saw it in books, TV and
somewhere else. While I appreciated the symbol of Malasia, the one of Korea was burning. 'Namdaemoon' is now gone due to a stupid old Korean guy who was unhappy with government. When I watched the news at my hostel, I was so shocked and couldn't believe it. Goerment should put him in a jail forever or he will do it again. He already had a record having burned 창경 palance before.
Back to my trip, I had a Malaysian favorite food named 'Nasi Lemak(right).' A spicy souce was very exotic and it is quite different from Korean's. I enjoyed the food. Nasi means rice. I think Malaysians like eating rice with various different kinds of souces. There are uncountable 'Nasi' dishes. I will show a picture of 'Nasi Minak' which is a traditional Malasian wedding dish later. As far as I know, Malaysians like rice and chickens A LOT.
After I finished my lunch, I went to Suria KLCC shopping mall. It was incredibly expensive and even more expensive than Seoul. I really hoped I could shop brand name clothing much cheaper price here, but my hope was gone. I gave up shopping and just went to Putrajaya which is a administrative city close to Kuala Lumpur. It was the best choice of the entire my trip. I loved it so much.
The mosque(left) in Putrajaya was absolutely beautiful and it was the most elegant one I've ever seen in Malaysia. The color, shape and aura were more than I expected. The river crossing the city brought me peace in my mind.
Watching the river, I reflected my past and thought about my dream. I wish I could live there until I got picpocketed. I was distracted feeding fishes in the river, my wallet was gone! Somebody took it when I wasn't aware of it. Damn it! I was lucky because in case of being stolen or lost, I put a small amount of money in it. Despite of bad luck, I still love Putrajaya. I stayed until sunset and night laying on grass.
Putrajaya has different beauty in different time. The night of Putrajaya was as fantastic as during the daytime. It was such a impressive city!
If I can get another chance to go to Kuala Lumpur, I absolutely want to visit Putrajaya again!
I do not know the special term for humor I like. I like something unexpectedly happening. For example, in the movie ‘Shrek’, when Princess Fiona and Shrek made balloons with a frog and snake, I laughed out my head off. It was totally unexpected that they did so. Like that, most humor in the movie Shrek was unexpected and a bit unrealistic. It was not like a dirty joke. I like slapstick in movies, too. A good example of this is Jackie Chan’s movies. His behavior seems foolish and rough in his movies. When fighting, he always exaggerates his acting and it looks really funny. What is more, I like his humor because it is sound. He never kills people in his movies unlike other Hollywood ones which are all about blood, murder and guns. Another example could be ‘Scary Movie 4’. I liked some parts of the movie except for dirty jokes. The movie has a lot of slapstick. It was hilarious, but I cannot remember what scene exactly was. Also, I like humor which is sarcastic, but has no personal insult. I think Corner Gas would be a good example even though it is not a movie. It is sarcastic and funny, but it did not mean to be insulting others. People in the show have unique characters. It seems that they make fun of each other on the surface, but they respect each other behind.
I hate dirty jokes. I did not like the toilet scene in ‘White Chicks’. I hated the dirty sound. It made me sick. When I watched ‘Austin Power’, I found that it was too much. The actor in the movie did lots of disgusting things which made me feel uncomfortable. Also, the actor made fun of girls’ bodies and insult them even though he looked crappy. The movie `American Pie’ is also one of sexual comedy movies. However, it was not that bad compared `Austin Power.’ If ‘Austin Power’ is all about disgusting sexual things, ‘American Pie’ has at least has a story line which was about growing young people. There is humor which I cannot understand, so I cannot say if it is funny or not. The movie ‘Clerk’ is one of the examples. My friend laughed out of his head while he was watching the movie, but I barely understand humor in the movie. I think this is because of different culture background.
Corporal punishment has been used for a long time to punish students who behave badly. Some people believe this to be a perfectly reasonable way to correct misbehavior of students, while other people think it is barbaric and unnecessary. They also claim that corporal punishment is outdated and has no place in a modern society. I think corporal punishment is unnecessary as well because it is not educationally effective and gets students emotionally hurt.
First of all, corporal punishment cannot be the ultimate solution of correcting students’ bad behavior. Punishment is just a temporary way to scare students. After they get beaten, they are soon likely to forget what they have done and do the bad behavior again. Misbehavior students are not even scared by corporal punishment. They simply do not care anything. The reason of their wrong behavior is something corporal punishment cannot change. For example, mental disturbed or attentive disorder students need a medical help rather than just getting beaten. Corporal punishment is not the best solution.
Secondly, adolescence period is a very sensitive time, so beaten students get hurt easily. They feel fear when they get beaten or watch others smacked by a teacher. It is emotionally not healthy. When a teacher beat students, it is also a form of violence. After watching the violence at school, students would no longer consider a school as a pleasant place. Violence brings unhappy feelings to people and should not be allowed in place where students develop their personality. Plus, if they experience the violence at classroom, they are likely to accept the idea that violence is allowed in any part of this society.
In conclusion, corporal punishment has been proved not as effective as people expected. As world is rapidly changing, we need more reasonable way to control over our children. Beating cannot be the best solution, because today’s youngsters are not scared of getting beaten. Moreover, other students who observe someone beaten in a classroom would feel unhappy and even uncomfortable because corporal punishment is another type of violence. School should not be a place which justifies violence, no matter what kind of it is.
